Constructing the Mold & Casting Compound
Retaining Dam.
4. To create a solid sculpting block from Mold & Casting Compound; a pre-portioned amount of Mold & Casting Compound must be catalyzed and poured into and appropriate sized retaining dam. Fig. 2.
5. Use 1/4”x3/4” wood strips, or similar materials for the retaining dam walls. Cut the walls to create an inside area slightly larger than the profile of the master plug drawing indicated by the dotted outline inside (about 1” all around larger, and 1/4” thicker than the finished lure body). Fig. 2.
6. Glue, and, or staple the walls together to form a box. Fig. 2. Pre-melt the shaping wax by adding a sufficient amount of shapping wax to the wax melting pot. Plug the wax pot into a 115/120V, AC wall socket. The wax pot is pre-set to the correct melting temperature. Add black, or red wax die to make the clear shaping wax easier to see.
