27. With artist flat brush and Paste Mold Release; apply coat of paste mold release around, but not in each of the four holes in the left mold half. Fig. 18.
28. With pallet knife; place a half golf ball size portion of Mold & Casting Compound onto glass work surface. Mix in appropriate amount of catalyst. Wipe pallet knife clean. With pallet knife; scoop up small amount of Mold & Casting Compound and place it into all four holes in mold half. Fig. 19.
Refer to Book #1, Chapter I, Page 11 for M&CC small batch making
29. Place a 1/4-20x1/2” nylon, or stainless steel cap screws into each of the four holes. Press down on the cap screws until they are seated firmly against the mold face. Allow excess Mold & Casting Compound to seep out, and around the top of the cap screws. Fig. 20.
30. After all four cap screws are in place; use pallet knife tip to feel un-used portion of Mold & Casting Compound remaining on glass work surface. As the Mold & Casting Compound begins to harden, it will go through a firm rubbery stage (B-stage). At this point; use a single edge razor blade to gently under cut excess material away from mold face and cap screw. Fig. 21.
Helpful Hint: You can make your pallet knife into a very sharp cutting, and scraping tool by sharpening one side of the pallet knife blade with a wet stone, or knife sharpener. A pre-sharpened pallet knife may take the place of a single edge razor blade in almost all applications.
