Question: How many times have you seen a Large Mouth Bass, Crappie, or a Blue Marlin standing at the check-out counter, in a tackle shop, with a fin full of fishing lures?... Not Many; I hope...er?....
"90% Of all retail fishing lures are not designed to catch fish. They are designed to catch fishermen". In most cases; the packaging costs more to produce than the fishing lure product in it.
$$ ca-ching $$.
Fishing Lure Design & Making is supposed to be fun. Unfortunately; Like most others, the business isn't.
These Booklets of Instruction may come off a little "hard nose". Which do you prefer; reading a little hard nose advice, or having a skinned nose? This is where the green-backs meet the pavement and your blood, sweat and tears get payed for..........or not?
From: The Do's & Don'ts:
LURE MAKING BUSINESS RULE # 1...!!!
"NEVER !!......I am using the word: "NEVER" here.....Show your fishing lure design to anyone associated with any other lure making company, large or small, or their fishing buddies; not even their distant cousins. If your design has any merit as a potentially commercial product; they will rip you off before you get home from the meeting. Disregard this rule If you want to see your lure design in this month’s issue of PRADCO products catalogs. If it is not there this month, it will be there next month. It may take a year. But; sooner or later; you will see your lure design among the sales pages of someone elses product catalogs. Put on the Poker Face ‘n keep your mouth shut.....
If you cannot resist the need to deal with other lure making companies in order to get your design marketed; proceed with extream caution.
Always look at the options of doing it yourself FIRST...!
From: About Patents:
"Did you know there are over 80 modern and industrialized countries on this planet that do not recognize United States Patent Law?.....".
"Toilet paper, only $2,500. a role (for the cheap stuff). The best way to protect yourself from product design infringement is to be first, and best at making and selling your lures; then stay that way!" The Poor Man's Patent, and Non-compatition Agreement is included here.
