The Safety Symbols & Icons listed below will appear throughout the LMDFG. They will be found prominently on PROCEDURE pages, commonly, on the first page of each new subject section. On MATERIALS, ACCESSORIES or EQUIPMENT pages, they may be seen only once when applying to a group of like kinds. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with these images. I can assure you, from past experience, these warnings and suggestions should be taken very seriously.

Safety Glasses. Eye protection that should be worn at all times while in any manufacturing environment.
 
Particle Mask. Worn when grinding that causes dust. NOT FOR PAINTING.
 
Micro-Filter, Respirator. Worn when spraying flammable, or toxic materials. Always worn when spray painting, applying mold release, or gel coating.
 
 
Protective Clothing. Needed when handling all types of paint, plastics and solvents..
 
No Open Flame. Materials are flammable or combustible. Fire Hazard.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
    
High Temperature. This symbol will be posted on pages featuring heat generating apparatus such as lead melting equipment, wax melting equipment, or PVA Injecting Equipment.
   
Time Critical. Displayed on pages describing processes that require precise time awareness while accomplishing your assigned task.
 
Gloves. To prevent contact with raw plastics, solvents, or acids.
 
Chemical Burn Possible. Some materials contain acids that can cause skin injury, or severe irritation.
 
Sharp Cutting Tools. Use caution when working with razor knives, or power cutting tools such as power saws.
 
Poisonous Materials. Use caution when working with these materials. Do not allow inhalation, or take internally.
 
Electric Shock Possible. Use caution when working with power tools, or equipment. Make sure all wiring is properly grounded. Keep away from water.
 
Ventilation. Procedure requires fresh air flow, or exhausted vapors. Filtered exhaust paint booth required.
 
Blended Materials. Some materials contain fillers that may separate during storage, and must be agitated prior to use.
 
Special Tools. Have all required tools for this procedure handy before proceeding.
